Zebra’s EC50 and EC55 are the thinnest and lightest Zebra mobile computer yet with an integrate scanner.
The key and only difference between the EC50 and EC55 is that the EC50 is Wi-Fi only – designed for workers within the four walls of an enterprise. Meanwhile, the EC55 has cellular capabilities as well as Wi-Fi making it suitable for workers out in the field – this means that the EC55 is a mobile phone.
Both the EC50 and EC55 come in a variety of different scanner, memory, SIM (EC55 only) and I/O connector options – this allows you to reduce the cost by selecting the specification that is required for your work. Both the EC50 and EC55 come with two different options in terms of scanning. If you just need every-now-and-then barcode capture, the high resolution 13 MP camera in the base model can do the job (no scanner models). Meanwhile, for more scan-intensive applications choose the SE4100 scanner.
Both models also come with the option for increased memory – this high memory option comes with 4GB/64GB of memory rather than the standard 3GB/32GB.
Within the EC50 and EC55 models you also have the choice of rear I/O connector options – this rear connector required for use of both the trigger handle and RFID Sled accessories. The devices come with three options – no rear I/O connector (meaning that the device is not suitable for use with either the trigger handle or RFID Sled), 2-pin rear I/O connector (meaning that the device is suitable for use with the trigger handle but NOT the RFID Sled) and finally 8-pin rear I/O connector (meaning that the device is suitable with both the RFID Sled and trigger handle accessories).
